What this feature does
The calendar tells Edunza which days your center works. Open Payroll → Holidays in the dashboard.
You configure two things:
- Weekly off days — tick the weekdays your center is closed
- Holidays — dated entries with a name, such as public holidays and planned closures
Leave it empty if your center works every day
An unconfigured calendar means every day counts as a working day. This is deliberate, not an oversight. Plenty of centers do teach on weekends and public holidays, so leave counting and payslip figures stay exactly as they are until you choose to configure something.
What the calendar changes
Once you configure it, it takes effect in two places automatically.
Leave stops consuming closed days
Days your center does not work are not counted against an employee's leave entitlement. A request that spans a weekend or a public holiday only uses up the working days inside it—so an employee taking Friday to Monday off, with the weekend closed, uses two days of leave rather than four.
The per-day rate for deductions changes
Unpaid leave and absences are deducted at a rate of one month's pay divided by that month's working days. Removing non-working days makes each working day proportionally worth more, which is usually what a center intends: someone absent on one of twenty-two working days loses more than one of thirty calendar days.
An absence recorded on a day your center is closed is ignored entirely.
Good to know
- A date can only appear once. Re-adding the same date updates the existing entry rather than creating a duplicate that would remove two working days from the month.
- If your calendar leaves a month with no working days at all, payslip generation stops with an explanatory message rather than paying everyone a full month.
- Weekly off days are shared with your payroll settings—the same values, edited in one place.
- Only center administrators can view or change the calendar.
